    • Likes to sing songs
    • Knows and can say first and last names
    • Likes to recite nursery rhymes or books with rhyming patterns
    • Names body parts
    • Likes to talk about things that have happened and will happen
    • Takes turns in conversations
  • Uses conventions of speech while expressing ideas
    • Uses simple adjectives, adverbs, and prepositions
    • Expresses both physical and emotional feelings
    • Begins using plurals more correctly
    • Uses verb tenses
    • Uses new vocabulary
    • Understands and uses colloquial expressions in daily conversation
  • Uses language for a variety of purposes
    • Likes telling stories, poems, and songs
    • Engages in imaginary talk, playing both roles
    • Asks many questions
    • Tells the sequence of a story with appropriate pictures and then without pictures
    • Expresses feelings and ideas
    • Talks about something not in front of him or her
