Storytime Share – Approaches to Learning: Cooperation 1

Standard: Approaches to Learning: Cooperation

Specific skill focused on: Manners

Song: “Shake My Sillies Out” (Raffi, Singable Songs for the Very Young)

Book: Mind Your Manners, B.B. Wolf by Judy Sierra

Song: “The Polite Song” (Choo-Choo Soul, Choo-Choo Soul)

Book: Tea Party Rules by Ame Dyckman

Song: “I’m a Little Teapot”

Song: “Two for Tea” (Jim Gill, Music Play for Folks of All Stripes)

Book: Time to Say “Please!” by Mo Willems

Song: “Please and Thank You” (Imagination Movers, Juice Box Heroes)

Book: Suppose You Meet a Dinosaur: A First Book of Manners by Judy Sierra

Song: “We Are the Dinosaurs” (Laurie Berkner, Whaddaya Think of That?)

Activity: Manners Worksheets

Thoughts: As I was pulling books for this storytime I realized that several of the picture books about manners include a tea party – including Mind Your Manners, B.B. Wolf and Tea Party Rules that I ended up using.  I guess we’re supposed to be “proper” at tea parties.  It would be easy to do a storytime just on table manners, but I wanted to do something a little broader.  Suppose You Meet a Dinosaur is fun.  It reminded me a lot of the classic What Do You Say, Dear?
