Standard: Approaches to Learning: Management of Self Within the Learning Environment

Specific skill focused on: Curiosity

Song: “Shake My Sillies Out” (Raffi, Singable Songs for the Very Young)

Book: A Very Curious Bear by Tony Mitton

Song: “Curious” (Barenaked Ladies, Snacktime!)

Book: A Penguin Story by Antoinette Portis

Song: “Doing the Penguin” (Sesame Street, Hot! Hot! Hot! Dance Songs)

Fingerplay: “Two Little Penguins” (King County Library System)

Book: Red Red Red by Valeri Gorbachev

Song: “Paint the Day Away” (Imagination Movers, For Those About to Hop)

Activities: Rising Raisins from Mess for Less website; Color Changing Milk Experiment from Steve Spangler Science website; Penny Polish from Table-top Science: Primary by Linda Allison

Thoughts: The kids seemed to have a good time with the science experiments.  I had a small group, so these activities worked well.  I found that each child wanted to be able to do each activity individually, so it was good that I had plenty of supplies available.
