Thoughts: This is a storytime I’ve been trying to pull together for awhile. I wanted to explore dialect with my storytime audience, but it was kind of tricky. Most picture books for young children aren’t written in dialect. Even though we’re in an urban setting, I decided to focus on East Tennessee, particularly the mountains that are part of our region. So that helped open things up a bit. I think the storytime went well. It definitely helped that the majority of the kids were on the older end of preschool age since some of the books were a little longer.
